EnCompass worked closely with the USPTO to help strengthen the leadership and management capabilities of supervisors across the Agency. Our team designed and facilitated a supervisor certificate program that built practical skills supervisors needed to lead high-performing teams, support employee growth, and foster an engaged workplace culture.

Initially delivered through a series of in-person workshops, supported by e-learning modules on critical topics such as hiring, performance appraisals, and performance management, EnCompass partnered closely with the Agency to redesign the program into a fully virtual experience. The refreshed program included virtual instructor-led training sessions, intersession learning activities, pre-course instructions, and instructional videos which created a modern, flexible pathway for supervisory development. Topics ranged from getting results through others and Emotional Intelligence to employee engagement, conflict management, effective communication, coaching, and relationship building.

To support supervisors beyond the classroom, EnCompass also redesigned the Supervisory Resource Center, an internal platform that provided guidance, tools, and job aids to help supervisors apply what they learned on the job.

Together, these efforts strengthened USPTO’s supervisory workforce, enhanced employee engagement, and helped the Agency cultivate leaders equipped for an evolving workplace.
