U.S. Agency for International Development, English Writing Proficiency Course (2012-Ongoing)
The USAID English Writing Proficiency Course was designed for USAID to improve the quality of the American English writing skills of Foreign Service Nationals whose primary language is not English. The course is designed for USAID staff members who are expected to contribute to mission planning documents, technical reports, trip reports and other documents as requested. The training approach reflects the fact that participants are English speaking, though they might not have had extensive training in writing. The focus is on experiential learning with hands-on individual and group writing exercises that are tied to real life assignments and USAID work situations. EnCompass offers this course in a basic and advanced version. Both workshops are 5-days and include participant manuals with resources for writing USAID documents. These courses are offered through EnCompass’ GSA Schedule – MOBIS and can be customized for different client systems.
U.S. Agency for International Development, Development Outreach and Communications Program (DOC) (2012-2017)
As a subcontractor to MSI, EnCompass is providing technical assistance and training support for USAID’s Development Outreach and Communications Officers (DOC) Program through the organization of workshops, design of training materials, the facilitation and exchange of best practices. DOC officers are staff in USAID missions charged with communicating to host country audiences the ways in which US foreign assistance supports economic and social development in their country.
U.S. Agency for International Development, Training and Facilitation (2006-2016)
EnCompass develops and facilitates workshops, delivers proprietary and customized training, and facilitates a variety of staff developmental activities, which include:
- Development Leadership Initiative for new Foreign Service Officers
- New Employee Orientations, both general schedule and foreign-service professionals
- Supervision Skills training for managers, supervisors, and team leaders stationed in missions worldwide and at headquarters
- Working Across Cultures workshops
- Training of internal coaches
- Human Resource Management training for managers and supervisors
In addition to training and facilitation, EnCompass provides project management support, contributes to program design, and collects and compiles evaluation data.
USAID, FORECAST II- PT: USAID/Mexico, Strengthening Professionals in Development Sectors in Mexico (2012-2013)
EnCompass and its partner Georgetown University’s Center for Intercultural Education and Development (GU-CIED) are supporting USAID/Mexico's scholarship program for Master's degree students in education and peace studies and natural resource management. The students are placed in universities in Mexico and the United States. EnCompass ensures that students successfully complete their degree programs, re-enter their local communities, and begin to share their new skills and perspectives with their colleagues and others.
U.S. Agency for International Development, Afghanistan Pre-departure Training (2010-2012)
EnCompass designed and facilitated an 8-day training for new USAID direct hires and Foreign Service Officers (FSOs) deploying to Afghanistan. In addition to providing participants with the foundational knowledge and skills to effectively fulfill their roles as USAID representatives, this training guided them in completing all pre-deployment logistics. The courses included an in-depth exploration of USAID’s Stability Operations and humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan; USAID/Afghanistan’s structures, systems and programs; on-the-ground realities of working in Afghanistan; history, culture, language and the conflict environment; and relationships with US military and other international, national and local players.
United Nations Organization, Training and Facilitation (2010-2012)
EnCompass supported a key UN organization by facilitating meetings and events and conducting training of trainers. EnCompass facilitators provided design and delivery support to enable successful and effective meetings. The aim of this work was to help groups of staff and stakeholders work together to solve problems, discuss issues, plan and implement activities, build teams, make decisions, and manage change EnCompass designed and delivered five-day training of trainers workshops for program staff.
International Resources Group (IRG), USAID’s Program Project Management Training Project, Training and Facilitation (2010-2012)
The Program Project Management Training project (PPMT) offered an integrated core suite of training courses and specialized advanced training and advisory services to USAID. EnCompass supported IRG by providing training and facilitation, curriculum development, and e-learning design services through the following programs:
- Acquisition and Assistance (A&A) Management for Contracting Officer Technical Representatives/Agreement Officer Technical Representatives (COTRs/AOTRs)
- Project Design and Management
- Programming Foreign Assistance
U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Child Labor, Forced Labor, and Human Trafficking, Facilitation Services (2009-2011)
EnCompass provided organizational, logistics, facilitation, and reporting services on behalf of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of International Labor of Affairs, Office of Child Labor, Forced Labor, and Human Trafficking. The office holds conferences, meetings, and symposia for researchers, field practitioners, and the general public on a variety of child-labor related topics and opportunities for sharing common knowledge, lessons learned, and good practices.
U.S. Agency for International Development, Curriculum Development and Facilitation for the Program and Project Management Training Program (2010-2011)
EnCompass was a subcontractor to the International Resources Group for the Program and Project Management Training program. EnCompass provided facilitation and support for the redesign for the following core training courses at USAID: Acquisition and Assistance (A&A) Management for Contracting Officer Technical Representatives/Agreement Officer Technical Representatives (COTRs/AOTRs), Programming Foreign Assistance, and Project Design and Management.
