E-learning

EnCompass has substantial expertise in creating user-driven Web-based and CD-ROM learning tools. Our award-winning instructional systems design team brings over 40 combined years of experience in the use of adult learning theory, experiential learning, and curriculum design to the creation of dynamic, interactive content that engages learners from all learning styles.

We design e-learning programs and tools that reflect the learner’s actual work and reality so that the material is relevant and engaging.  We employ various methods that capture and sustain the learner’s interest throughout an e-learning program:

  • Case studies to provide context and complex challenges
  • Assessments to check on progress
  • Job aids or algorithms
  • Graphic depictions of complex concepts that enable the learner to explore definitions and relationships between concepts and their implications for practice
  • Dialogue that helps the learner to identify with the roles depicted
  • Animation
  • Video clips to reinforce or underscore the importance of a particular concept
  • Self-paced features that allow the user to control the pace of the course
  • Supplementary resources or activities (texts, journals, or handouts) where the learner can go for additional information
  • Opportunities to communicate with a community of practice
  • Threaded group discussions

Featured Project

Chemonics International, USAID Anti-Trafficking in Persons Online Course (2011-2012)

EnCompass is developing a 45-minute online course for all USAID staff on human trafficking.  The course is expected to be mandatory for all USAID staff worldwide.  Its purpose is to raise awareness about the signs of human trafficking and the roles and responsibilities of USAID staff in taking appropriate action to address trafficking in persons.  The course utilizes real scenarios to guide staff in identifying trafficking situations and branching to show users the consequences of various actions in addressing trafficking.
