Gender and Human Rights
EnCompass gender-based violence specialists have been thought leaders and technical advisors in gender-based violence and HIV, including serving on a UN Working Group on Gender-Based Violence in Vietnam.
We currently provide technical assistance and capacity-building services to organizations working in support of gender equality and human rights. Our work focuses primarily on programs, tools, and processes that support women and other marginalized groups to have a stronger voice, access information, and contribute and inform positive change by actively participating in processes and decisions that affect their lives.
Our work in support of gender equality includes design and facilitation of training curricula on gender and development and gender analysis for various agencies, including the United Nations and the World Bank Institute, that instills a gender-sensitive perspective and increases awareness of gender roles and relations at the personal and institutional levels.
Featured Project
USAID, Gender Training for Asia and Middle East Mission Gender Advisors/Points of Contact (2012)
EnCompass designed and facilitated a 4-day gender training in Bangkok, Thailand, for approximately 20 Gender Advisors and Gender Focal Points from USAID Missions in Central, South and Southeast Asia and the Middle East. EnCompass also provided the gender-based violence subject matter expert for the training. The purpose of the training was to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to integrate a gender perspective throughout their Missions’ program cycle and assist program managers through gender analysis of project plans.
